New features in Memengo Wallet 1.9

By Denis

Since Memengo Wallet was released you have spoken and we have listened. The latest update addresses 5 of your most frequent requests and it will be released on the app store in about two weeks. For each feature there is a person or a small group who championed it, and today these nice people are rewarded with:

a) A free copy of GeeTasks – a task manager that syncs with Google Tasks. Please contact support to receive your Promo Code.
b) The requests being addressed. That’s what you get for speaking up. :-)

Here are the new features:

1. More readable font. I have scanned through all fonts on iPhone and found the only one where all leters below look differently. Thanks Dark for bringing this issue up.

2. Lockout can now be configured in Settings – you can specify to lock when screen locks, or after so many minutes. Thanks to Kyle, sickpuma an Robert for taking time to explain this problem to me. Apart from different timing, setting a time-based lockout will prevent Wallet from closing when focus is lost (e.g. an SMS arrives).

3. Encryption key can be entered using PIN-friendly keyboard. I still recommend using more complicated character set than just numbers, but if you’re sure you know what you are doing now is your time. Thanks Matthias and Cantello for suggesting this feature. Also notice the nice shiny button – there will be more of these as I’m getting a hang of this button design thing.

4. Copy-paste support for iPhone OS 3.0. While Wallet remains compatible iPhone OS 2.2, when run on OS 3.0 you can now also tap-and-hold on any field in a card and you will be offered to copy text to iPhone’s clipboard or to append it. Thus you can copy both user named and password into clipboard and go use Safari without the need to come back. Thanks sickpuma.

5. Speaking of Safari. Tap-and-hold over a link also allows you to open links in Safari instead of the built-in Web Browser. This should make things a little quicker for those of you who prefer Safari. Thanks sickpuma.

    Hey there,

Really late to the party on this but is Memengo Wallet Pro still available for free for folks who bought the original Memengo wallat? I’d like to download it if at all possible. And the original is no longer there.

    Thanks!

    Tad

    • Denis Says:

Yes, everyone who has Memengo Wallet can download Wallet Pro for free. In fact if you already have it installed you don’t need to anything as upgrade is automatic.

The server is down and I can’t get to my data. I don’t know where to post this information so I’m just adding a comment here hoping that someone will see it.

    • Denis Says:

Yes, Sorry about this. Apparently the entire datacenter had connectivity issues. I posted a status update on http://help.memengo.com but I really should have posted it here as well. The server went back up at around 9:20am PST.

I really appreciate your commitment to improvement, particularly being able to vary the time-out period! The cut-and-paste is valuable to me too, thank you! I’m sure that with practice I will come to value the other things too. Something that I would like to raise myself is that there is one huge frustration with this wonderful app left for me: I have large hands and thus a strong preference for typing in landscape mode, which gives a larger, more practical (& hence less mistake-prone!) keyboard. As yet I cannot do this in Wallet, & waste an awful lot of precious time having to correct my typos! It would really be great if this could be facilitated in Wallet too? Thanks for listening, as clearly I can trust that you do! Keep up the great work! Best wishes, Fiona HT

  4. Denis Says:

Thanks for your input, Fiona. You’re right, landscape support is needed. I’ll get it done.

  5. Matt stasior Says:

U r gr8. Thank u. Love the updates n cust focus. Well done. My one suggestion is have . Com come up for web addresses. Ie www. .com. So cursor shows up in middle. Of course u can change it but 80% of time this is beginning n end of web address

  6. Denis Says:

    Hi Matt.
Not sure what you mean – do refer to editing of a URL in the iPhone Wallet app? Technically, there is really no way for us to control cursor position given Apple’s APIs.

  7. Jgy Says:

How do I get the gee tasks app?

  8. Denis Says:

Jgy, the free GeeTasks offer was for people whose names I mentioned throughout the post – they have provided valuable input and I wanted to give them a little “thank you”. I apologize for the confusing wording.

If you want to purchase GeeTasks it can be found at the app store, or yu can simply click on “buy now” link over at http://geetasks.com
